The National Business Institute is hosting a two-day course on “Local Government Law from Start to Finish,” on December 9th and 10th at the Doubletree by Hilton Newark Airport. On December 9th, RMFMC&B Partner, John A. Conte, Jr., will present a segment on “Navigating Open Meeting Law Compliance Issues.” Mr. Conte has extensive experience and knowledge of the Open Meeting Law as a result of serving as Attorney for three different land use boards and as a prior Township attorney. He continues to serve as the attorney for the Norwood Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Elmwood Park Planning Board. The seminar on the Open Meeting Law will address such issues as: what must meeting notices contain, when is a meeting, a meeting, open vs. closed session procedures, meetings for quasi-governmental corporations and dealing with open meeting law violations.
Other courses at the two-day course include, Public Records Request Compliance in a Technological Age, Municipal Liability for Police Misconduct, Public Contracts and Bidding, among others. Attendees at the two-day conference can receive upwards of 14.4 New Jersey Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) credits, 14 New York CLE credits and 12 Pennsylvania CLE credits.
