The Honorable Harry G. Carroll joined Meyerson, Fox & Conte, P.A. as Counsel in 2018 after serving sixteen years as a New Jersey Superior Court Judge. Judge Carroll brings extensive experience to the firm, offering his expertise in the areas of complementary dispute resolution and arbitration, as well as consultation with private and public sector clients. He also consults on trial and appellate presentations. Additionally, Judge Carroll is available to manage litigation as a special master and offers guidance to the firm regarding complex matters.
Appointed as a Superior Court Judge in Bergen County in 2002, Judge Carroll initially presided over domestic violence, divorce, and child support matters in the Family Division. Later, he served as Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division, where he conducted a range of criminal trials, including several high-profile murder cases.
Judge Carroll then served as a General Equity Judge in the Chancery Division, presiding over the dissolution of corporations, oppressed minority shareholder litigation, matters relating to real estate transactions, mortgage foreclosures, employment matters, and will contests and other probate matters. During his last five years on the bench, Judge Carroll was assigned to the Appellate Division, where he reviewed hundreds of decisions by lower courts and administrative bodies, and authored numerous published opinions. While serving in the Judiciary, Judge Carroll was appointed to a number of Supreme Court Committees, including the Criminal Practice Committee, for which he served as the Chair, the Special Committee on Telephonic and Electronic Search Warrants, and the Domestic Violence Working Group.
Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court bench, Judge Carroll maintained an active general practice in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, commercial transactions, wills and estates, family law, and personal injury and commercial litigation. He also has extensive experience in land use and development matters, and served as a member of the Bogota Zoning Board of Adjustment. Additionally, he presided as a Municipal Court Judge in the Bergen County Central Municipal Court and the municipalities of Bergenfield, Bogota, Cresskill, Midland Park, Waldwick, and Washington Township, and served as Municipal Prosecutor in Bogota and Leonia.
Judge Carroll has lectured extensively on topics such as complex issues in commercial real estate, post-employment restrictive covenants, counsel fee applications in probate matters, domestic violence, criminal justice reform, civil trial and pre-trial practice, appellate practice, and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s annual Civil Case Law update and annual Trust and Estate forum.
Judge Carroll earned his J.D. from Fordham University Law School (cum laude) and his B.A. degree from Fordham University (summa cum laude).
